/ About the project
As part of the team that shaped Michaels MakerPlace, I engaged in extensive R&D, diving deep into hands-on user research, early-stage prototyping, and business model development. Collaborating closely with IDEO's business designers, we worked to build a two-sided marketplace that would empower artisans to sell their handmade creations through a platform tailored for their needs.
I focused on refining both visual and strategic elements, helping to establish what the site experience and broader business strategy could be. The outcome was a platform with accessible seller benefits—free listings, lower fees, marketing support, and unique opportunities for artisans to engage with their audiences through online classes and how-to guides—all within a framework that feels both functional and supportive.
